At the regularly scheduled meeting May 6, the LTMUA Board of Commissioners discussed and passed a resolution offering assistance to water and sewer customers.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous businesses in Lower Township have temporarily closed, or have otherwise experienced extraordinary interruptions in their normal business operations. In light of the financial and economic strain that is presently being experienced by our private and business customers, the Board of Commissioners deemed it prudent and in the best interest of its customers that various provisions of Resolutions 170-2010 and 171-2010 be suspended for six months, beginning May 1 and ending Oct. 31.
The Board of Commissioners has granted the authority executive director, authority secretary, and the authority financial advisor to implement the following:
- Suspend the accrual of interest on water and sewer accounts that are delinquent, as of May 1, 2020 (or become delinquent thereafter), shall be suspended until Oct. 31.
- Termination of water and sewer services for non-payment of service charges shall be suspended.
- No water or sewer service restoration fees shall be charged between May 1-Oct. 31.
The Authority encourages customers that are delinquent or may become delinquent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain regular communication with the Authority Billing Office. We will assist you in developing payment plans.
The Authority Building and operations facilities remain closed to the public. To protect the safety of the Authority Staff and Employees, we are working alternating schedules so we can ensure the continued delivery of essential water and sewer service to our customers. Our phones may ring a little longer, it may take a little more time to respond to a service request, but we are here to serve you.
