Holly Shores Camping Resort, located at 491 Rt. 9, Erma, donated $1,850 to local schools, non-profits and businesses this October. Holly Shores hosts it’s annual Halloween extravaganzas during the first two weeks of October. Each year, local clubs and organizations compete to win money by performing Halloween-themed skits during the Haunted Hayride and Walk around the campground, which benefits Cape Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Center. Each group puts on their best bone-chilling, spine-tingling performance to scare campers and guests in the name of charity. This year, during Columbus Day weekend, local 4-H group “Scales and Tails Herpetology Club” took home first place and $500 for the club with its terrifying “haunted laboratory” skit. The 4-H group plans to use the money for its annual field trip in the spring. The following Saturday, Oct. 15, Lower Cape May Regional High School’s Future Business Leaders of America won first place and $500 with their hauntingly well done performance of a “Massacre by Children.” The School Based Youth Services club at Cape May Technical High School won second place and $250 with its outstanding performance. Mrs. Sarah Mathis’ 8th grade class performed “8th Grade Asylum” and placed third for the night, which left the class with $100. The dancers from Joanne Reagan Dance Studios performed a beautiful Alice in Wonderland themed musical dance for campers all night, and received a $500 donation for their studio. The dance studio performs every year and uses the donation for its college scholarship fund.
