Hail the Taxi! (Or Call, Rather)

By Megan Gillin-Schwartz

WILDWOOD — It’s 3 a.m. on a Saturday night. How are you getting home?
Whether it’s a ride from the local watering hole or a lift to the airport to avoid the pre-flight hassle of searching for a spot, taxis are a readily available mode of transportation in the county.
Here’s a guide as to who to call for a pick-up:
AART’s Cape May Taxi offers services throughout the county and to all major airports from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily, (609) 898-RIDE.
Caribbean Cab Company serves the Wildwoods, Cape May, Seven Mile Island, Sea
Isle, Villas and drops off in Ocean City, Philadelphia International Airport, Atlantic City International Airport, and Newark International Airport 24 hours, year round, (609) 523-8000.
Checker Cab Company serves Middle Township, Wildwoods, and all major airports 24 hours, year round, (609) 522-1431.
Yellow Cab Company serves Avalon, Stone Harbor, Sea Isle, Middle Township, Cape May, Wildwoods, and major airports 24 hours, year round. (609) 522-0555.
Offshore Cab Company serves Avalon, Stone Harbor, Sea Isle, Cape May, Middle Town-ship, and major airports 24 hours, year round, (609) 374-1100.
Note: All listed taxi companies will drop off in most county locations, but can only pick up where they are licensed.
(Ed. Note: This is the final installment in a special series of Herald stories this summer on ways to get around the county that don’t involve using your car. For more information, and for prior articles, see www.capemaycountyherald.com.)
