COURT HOUSE — The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May would like to go on record as opposing the actions taken in the Cape May City Council work session of March 3, 2015 with regard to Captain Robert Sheehan. Council’s actions have unfairly cast a shadow on the reputation of a man who has served this city faithfully for many years, as well as set into motion other unfortunate ramifications.
Since his appointment as Chief, Captain Sheehan has represented a breath of fresh air in his dealings with the Chamber of Commerce. He has been proactive in providing information and training for our retail members in regard to prevention of credit card fraud and shoplifting. We applaud his use of social media in the resolution of several recent shoplifting cases, as well as using social media to keep the community informed about new Police Department programs. We have been heartened by his willingness to partner with the community and the support he has provided for Chamber and other community events. Instituting such programs as Operation Reassurance and Coffee with a Cop has served to deepen the connection between the Police Department and the Community.
We request that the Council reconsider its actions and reinstate Captain Sheehan.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
