CAPE MAY — This year’s executive board of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May is committed to carrying on the quality events that fulfill the mission statement of the organization, according to a release.
The board is comprised of representatives from lodging, retail, services and cultural sectors, and is committed to ensuring that only the best for Cape May’s residents and visitors be experienced.
Representing the Antique Doorknob is President William Causey, Barry Bruno from Professional Property Services, John Cooke from the Victorian Motel, Ron Goldstein from Ron Goldstein Family Dentistry, Peggy Vogel of Coldwell Banker Real Estate, and Mary Stewart from the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts comprise the rest of the executive board.
The first decision made by the executive board was to donate $1,000 to the West Cape May Christmas Parade to be held on Dec. 5. In conjunction with other fundraisers the Cape May Chamber wanted to make a statement about the importance of this popular event.
In addition to one more event of Music on the Walk, Nov. 21, Dawn DeMayo, head of the Chamber’s Towne Crier committee announced that caroling would take place on the Washington Street Mall on Hospitality nights Dec. 10 and 11.
Oktoberfest is just one of the many events sponsored by the Chamber. A one-day event that the chamber hopes will be something both visitors and residents can experience as a day filled with Bavarian flavors and atmosphere. Perhaps next year the chamber will have an apple pie competition for both residents and restaurants.
Cape May can expect many other wonderful, fun, friendly and free events sponsored this year by the Chamber of Commerce, all of which are run by volunteers. Movies on the Beach in July and August, the Great Cape May Foot Race in May, Harborfest in June just to name a few. The Chamber also contributes to the annual Fourth of July Parade.
Whether it is Oktoberfest or Harborfest, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May is committed to putting on the best functions possible for our residents and visitors alike.
Te chamber welcomes constructive feedback and also welcomes assistance. If anyone would like to volunteer for any of these events please contact the office at 609-884-5508.
