For the Love of Limas

By Al Campbell

WEST CAPE MAY — Madill, Okla. has its “Sand Bass Festival.” New Orleans, La. has the Mardi Gras, and this tiny borough has its “Lima Bean Festival,” held Oct. 6 in Wilbraham Park.
As usual, crowds went shoulder to shoulder to belly up to tables selling every kind of lima bean dish including, lima bean pie, lima bean chili, lima bean salad, and of course bowls of buttered limas.
For those who would rather sport the bean than eat it, there were assortments of lima bean adorned shirts, jewelry and hats.
