First Artisanal Distillery in Cape May County

By Sponsored Content

Cape May County is home to numerous wineries and breweries, from as far South as Cape May to as far North as Tuckahoe. What Cape May County has been lacking is a distillery, until recently.
Cape May Distillery was first created in 2013, by Lee Phillips. Since then he and his team made up of Jay Sporl, Sheldon Ali, Joseph Lerro, Nathan Dolezel and J Lee Lineburgh, have taken their knowledge and experience to create the perfect product. Located in Green Creek in Cape May County, Cape May Distillery is the first artisanal distillery in Cape May. The name, CMY is their abbreviation for Cape May.
After two years of trial and error the team has created two products that are now for sale. Currently available is the Barrel Rum and Beach Rum, each with its own unique flavor. The distillery creates their products based on what people love to drink. Currently they are producing both light and dark rum but have plans to expand to include small batch Bourbons, Specialized Brandy and Gin.
For those looking for their perfect brew, Cape May Distillery offers a Barrel Program where customers can hand-select their very own barrel of Single Barrel Select. Join them for a personal tasting to sample whiskey until you find the barrel that is right for you. The barrel holds 53 gallons and can be personalized with a name, date or special occasion.
The program is also offered for those who may not be able to make the trip, just tell the distillery what flavors you like and they will select it for you! Each selection will be commemorated by a special plaque and the program is offered for those over 21 years of age.
Currently their touring facilities and retail store are under construction and will be available to the public for tours and sales by the end of July.
For those interested in participating in the Barrel Program or learning more visit http://cmydistillery.com or call (609) 305-4853. The Distillery is conveniently located at 371 Route 47 South in Cape May Court House.
