COURT HOUSE – Patrick Cookson, Environmental Services Department at Cape Regional Medical Center, is the Service Excellence of the Month awardee for March, 2013.
“On a miserable, foggy night in November, while Pat was on his dinner break, he suddenly heard a car horn blowing outside the Emergency Department Ambulance entrance. In addition to notifying me of the situation, Pat escorted me outside, to ensure my safety. He also alerted additional staff, security, and a physician of the situation,” stated Melissa Bailey, RN.
“As it turned out, there was a very upset, older gentleman with his sick wife in the car. Due to his emotional state and the terrible fog, the gentleman had arrived at the ambulance entrance rather than the patient entrance and his wife needed immediate medical attention. Pat could have finished his meal, leaving patient care to the nursing staff. However, because Pat cares about his work and the patients we care for, he took the initiative to make sure this gentleman and his wife received immediate attention,” Bailey concluded.
“I don’t even know what to say,” exclaimed Cookson. “I am very thankful! Thank you to every one for this great honor.”
“On behalf of the entire Environmental Services Department, we congratulate Pat on being the March Service Excellence Award recipient,” stated Jeff Findlay, Director of Environmental Services. “He never gives less than 110% on a very tough shift. Thank you for honoring him with this great reward.”
