Claudio’s Pizza Kitchen Brings Fresh, Healthy Food to Cape May Court House

Claudio’s Pizza Kitchen, Cape May Court House’s newest restaurant, brings the community together to enjoy fresh, healthy versions of your favorite Italian classics and more.
Claudio’s opened its doors last month on Jan. 23 at 205 S. Main St. in Cape May Court House and has already received rave reviews! Owner Claudio Pawlus, who also owns Alfredo’s Pizzeria right around the corner, opened the restaurant to provide the community with fresh, healthy, delicious food options that are great for the whole family.
Claudio was born in Argentina but moved to the United States with his family as a young child. Both his parents were amazing cooks so the family spent every Sunday making huge, homemade family dinners. Claudio formed a love and passion for food from a very young age, so it made sense that he would end up in the restaurant industry later in life. After high school, Claudio was working in Atlantic City but started working for free at Sorrentos Pizzeria in Wildwood to learn how to make pizza. By 1984 at only 19 years old, Claudio opened Alfredo’s Pizzeria with his twin brother, Fabio, to bring great pizza to the off-shore community of Cape May Court House.
Over the past 35 years, Alfredo’s Pizzeria has been serving families some of the best pizza in Cape May County. They pride themselves on their classic recipes, handmade dough, marinara sauce, and family-friendly atmosphere. The customers at Alfredo’s love the food, but after some time, Claudio was looking for a change.
Once he had kids, Claudio saw a need for a healthier, family-friendly restaurant where parents could bring their kids any night of the week for a quality meal. Instead of making changes to the tried and true recipes at Alfredo’s Pizzeria, he decided to open Claudio’s Pizza Kitchen.
Claudio is extremely family-oriented and involved in the community, so he wanted those values to be at the forefront of his new business. With his family and healthier options in mind, Claudio set out to build a team of like-minded people who truly care about their customers. Once he had a fantastic team in place, he worked with his team members, Peter and Joe, to create new, healthy recipes with only the highest quality ingredients. Claudio knew that if he focused on hiring the best employees and using the best quality ingredients for every menu item, everything else would fall into place.
After months of hard work and dedication, the Cape May Court House community welcomed Claudio’s Pizza Kitchen with open arms and they have been busy ever since. Choose from the homemade soups, hot and cold sandwiches, build your own salads, pasta dishes, classic pizza, and so much more. Claudio’s personal favorites are the hot chicken cutlet sandwich with spinach, roasted peppers, and mozzarella or the Hoboken Classic Italian, a Claudio’s exclusive, made with genoa salami, capicola, hot soppressata, prosciutto, sharp provolone, oil, and balsamic vinegar. Pair any meal with a side of fresh-cut french fries and enjoy! With so many different options available, customers will never have to eat the same thing twice, but they may want to!
Now that the restaurant is open, you can find Claudio with his wife, Nina, and their four kids at the restaurant for family dinner every day at 3:30 p.m. before they head off to their kids’ sports practices and extracurricular activities.
 “I believe food brings families and communities together and Claudio’s provides people the opportunity to connect with the community, share stories, meet one another, and enjoy incredible food,” Claudio shared. “I enjoy people and love my community, so providing them with amazing food and having everyone come together at Claudio’s is so rewarding and satisfying. I’ve been fortunate to have met some really great people and shared some amazing experiences over the years.”
