COURT HOUSE — The development of interactive education received a helping hand as the CapeBank Charitable Foundation contributed a $5,000 grant to Morey’s Piers and Partners in Education, according to a release.
In May 2009, Morey’s Piers and the CapeBank Charitable Foundation pledged to donate SMART interactive white boards to the top 10 participating schools in the Morey’s Piers ‘”Fun’d Raiser Program.”
The Foundation’s donation will help purchase the interactive boards for winning middle schools in the area.
Developed by SMART Technologies, these interactive white boards are touch-sensitive and used in the classroom to assist teachers in engaging their students more effectively.
“Since we’ve started using the SMART board interactive whiteboard, the children are picking up skills faster and are more exciting about learning,” said New Jersey teacher, Carl Dailey. “They are now interactively involved with their learning.”
Since its inception in January 2008, the CapeBank Charitable Foundation has awarded more than $344,000 to more than 90 area non-profit organizations, including the American Red Cross (Atlantic and Cape May County chapters), Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and the Big Brothers & Big Sisters program.
