Cape May Seeks To Recognize Historic Homes

By Herald Staff

CAPE MAY — Do you own a home or commercial structure or know of one in the City of Cape May that deserves to be recognized for contributing to the landmark status of our beautiful city?
All are welcome to apply for the Third annual City of Cape May Historic Preservation Awards.
Cape May Historic Preservation Commission announces this program sponsored by the HPC.
A panel of judges, experts in the field of historic preservation, has been assembled, and is eager to consider all applications.
Categories are:
• Restoration of existing properties
• Addition to an existing property
• Adaptive reuse of an existing structure
• New single family dwelling that conforms to the historic district
• Commercial rehabilitation
Each winner will be presented with a historic preservation tile that they can display.
The awards will be given during Historic Preservation Commission Meeting, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.
Applications are available at the City of Cape May Construction office.
A property can be self-nominated or nominated by another person.
Deadline for this year’s application is Oct. 15, and nominated projects must have been completed by Jan. 31, 2008.
