Cape May-Lewes Ferry Revenue Down

NORTH CAPE MAY — Delaware Bay and River Authority (DRBA) reported vehicle traffic decreased 23.8 percent and passenger traffic decreased 29.9 percent on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry in March.
Year-to-date vehicle traffic decreased 15.6 percent and passenger traffic decreased 17.3 percent when compared to the same period in 2008. When compared to the average of the last three years, year-to-date vehicle traffic decreased 14.9 percent and passenger traffic 13.7 percent.
In March, fare revenues decreased 20.7 percent compared to one year ago. Year-to-date fare revenues 9.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
In March, ferry food sales decreased 30.4 percent while retail sales decreased 45.5 percent compared to March 2008. When compared to the average of the last three years, year-to-date food and beverage revenues decreased 20.2 percent and retail revenues decreased 33.2 percent.
