CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE —The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce first originated as the Seashore Association Chamber of Commerce in 1916, a group formed by the resort towns of Cape May, Ocean City, Sea Isle, Avalon, Stone Harbor, and the Wildwoods to promote tourism along the Jersey Cape. Since that time, although the name has changed, the Chamber continues to be the leader in representing Cape May County’s business interest.
Today’s Chamber operates year round providing money saving benefits, cooperative marketing services and networking events to businesses who invest in the organization through membership. Ranked as the 7th largest chamber of commerce by NJBiz, the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce has nearly 900 members with almost a 50/50 split between front-line tourism businesses and business-to-business members.
Known as the “Voice of the Business Community in Cape May County”, the Chamber represents the local business perspective which is often unique in a seasonal tourism-based economy. The Cape May County Chamber’s advocacy work on behalf of business has earned the organization respect and recognition among statewide business and tourism organizations and elected officials.
The Chamber hosts a full calendar of events and programs to enhance business growth, education, and promotion. A full service Visitor’s Information Center provides assistance to visitors and travelers with the availability of products and services offered by our member businesses and our web-based center gives members an opportunity to increase their online bookings. The Jersey Cape Vacation Guide, Cape May County Map, Calendar of Events and other print literature offer ever-important advertising opportunities to reach potential customers. Educational seminars, Business @ The Beach Expo, and After-Hours Networking Events provide Chamber members with important business-to-business marketing tools and opportunity.
A 36 member Board of Directors establishes the goals and objectives of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce led by Chairman Scott Campbell of TD Bank. A professional team of 5 full time staff members and 2 part time employees execute the Board of Directors mission and vision led by Vicki Clark, President of the Chamber. Clark is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management as is the Chamber’s Marketing and Membership Director, John Kelly.
