CAPE MAY – Despite a gloom and doom weather forecast from the National Weather Service, Saturday Oct. 3 turned out to be a sunny day with a temperature of 75 degrees here, a great day for Octoberfest.
Jackson Street was closed to allow vendors offering items from pulled pork sandwiches to jewelry and cigars to sell their wares.
The event’s sponsor, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May set up a beer garden in the driveway of the Virginia Hotel which was also serving food from a sidewalk tent.
Non-profit organizations were also on hand including Animal Outreach and the Cape May Fire Department which was selling T-shirts and caps.Artwork, crafts, kettle corn and Cape May wines were also available.
The event and beach weather brought a sizable crowd to Cape May. A pre-dawn thunderstorm concluded all the rain for the day.
