Cape Bank Foundation Donates $28,000 to Local Charities

By Leslie Truluck

COURT HOUSE – Cape Bank hosted a luncheon Dec. 17 at the Cape Bank Conference Center here to present $28,000 in donations made by the Cape Bank Charitable Foundation to four local charities that were chosen by the bank’s customers through its Customer Discretion Program.
Annually in November the bank asks it clients to fill out a ballot on their bank statements to decide which charities were worthy of the funds.
CEO Herbert Hornsby, Jr. presented William Southrey of the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, Evelyn Benton of the Community Foodbank of New Jersey, William MacQueen of the Cape May County Zoological Society and Salvation Army representatives Felicia Smith and Joaquin Calvo each with $7,000 for their organizations.
“These rough times are when charities need help the most,” Hornsby said.
