Bronze Adrian Award Goes to Wildwoods PR Campaign

By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD — The 2009 Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority’s public relations campaign promoting the theme, “Are You Free This Summer? The Wildwoods Are!” has earned a Bronze Adrian Award in the Consumer Marketing Public Relations category, according to a release.
The awards are presented annually by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International to honor outstanding achievements in advertising, public relations and web marketing in the travel industry.
Founded in 1957, the Adrian Awards embrace all segments of the hospitality industry, including hotels, airlines, cruise lines, car rental companies, destinations and more. The 2009 recipients were selected from a field of over 1,000 international entries judged by senior industry and media experts.
The Wildwoods’ entry included a case study describing the campaign strategy and numerous story placements. The Wildwoods competed against 56 other entries to earn the award.
GWTIDA’s public relations 2009 campaign has resulted in national and regional broadcast, print and web story placements. The public relations campaign highlighted the variety of free things to see and do in the Wildwoods, including beaches, a world-famous boardwalk and over 180 events held throughout the year. The campaign also promoted the Wildwoods as a one-of-a-kind family vacation destination, providing great value in a tough economic climate.
GWTIDA’s public relations agency of record, Suasion Communications Group/Smith O’Keefe of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, created and executed the award-winning 2009 public relations campaign.
This is the second award this year that the GWTIDA/Suasion Communications partnership has acquired for its public relations efforts. The Wildwoods’ 2008 public relations campaign received the 2009 New Jersey Governor’s Award for Tourism Excellence from the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism.
“We’re honored to have received a coveted Adrian Award. It shows that our persistent public relations effort has paid off and that the Wildwoods’ brand is continuing to grow in the minds of consumers and industry professionals, alike,” stated John Siciliano, GWTIDA executive director.
The 2010 Adrian Awards Gala will be held on Feb. 1, 2010 at the Marriot Marquis in New York City.
