Borgata Donates 36 Turkeys to Replace Stolen Goods

By Al Campbell and Rick Racela

WHITESBORO — The day before Thanksgiving, a thief stole a dozen frozen turkeys from Cape Human Resources food pantry at Martin Luther King Community Center, West Main St. Whitesboro.
On Nov. 29, that loss was restored with 36 frozen turkeys given through the generosity of Borgata Hotel & Casino’s “Heart and Soul Foundation.”
Vera Smith, director of Cape Human Resources food pantry, stocked a freezer with the turkeys, assisted by Eric Reynolds, Borgata’s vice president, community initiatives, Maritza Burgos, security shift manager, two security guards and Middle Township Recreation Department employees.
Reynolds said the casino wanted the Whitesboro community to know it was appreciated, and to make sure people had food for the upcoming holidays.
Middle Township Mayor F. Nathan Doughty said the Borgata donation “will make many people happy and help people in the Whitesboro area have a happy and wonderful Christmas,”
Middle Township police continue to search for the thief or thieves. Anyone with information about the burglary and theft should contact Middle Township Police Department at (609) 465-8700.
