Avalon Lions Make Donation to Lazarus House

L to R: Avalon Lions members Pat Williams and Eileen Donovan present a check to Lazarus House director

By Press Release

February may be the offseason at the Jersey Shore, but the Avalon Lions Club doesn’t take time off from its mission of helping charities across Cape May County.

This month, Lazarus House, the busy food pantry located in Wildwood, received a check for $5,500 from the Lions to help feed needy families during the cold winter months of high unemployment in this seasonal economy. Accepting the check was Frank Stone, director of the organization that served more than 15,000 guests last year. Lazarus House recently relocated its pantry to the First Presbyterian Church of Wildwood. The food pantry is located at the church at Burk and Pacific avenues in Wildwood. The mailing address is P.O. Box 7292, Wildwood, New Jersey 08260.

The check presentation took place at the Lions’ monthly meeting where club leaders are preparing for the summer of 2017. Upcoming fundraising events include several White Cane collections, the popular Pasta Night and Pancake Breakfast, and the Charity Golf Classic set for June 25.

The Avalon Lions Club boasts the largest membership roll in New Jersey with 150 members. They support more than a dozen charities in Cape May County, raising over $100,000. The Avalon Lions Charity Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible.
