COURT HOUSE — Cape May County freeholders recognized the N.J. Army National Guard 253rd Transportation Co. for its service to the country and community at their Aug. 11 meeting.
Freeholder Gerald Thornton presented a resolution welcoming home the N.J. Army National Guard 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team to Commanding Officer Col. Steve Ferrari.
“The Board of Chosen Freeholders and the citizens of Cape May County extend their thanks for your countless sacrifices and take great pleasure in welcoming the unit home,” Thornton stated.
The 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team returned home from its year-long deployment in Iraq as part of the largest deployment of the New Jersey National Guard since World War II. Citizen soldiers from Cape May County and members of the 253rd Transportation Company were among those who have returned.
