By Press Release

WILDWOOD – The 20th Annual Wildwood Beach Ultimate Frisbee Tournament Co-Director Leonard Dagit presented a donation of $7,500 to the City of Wildwood Department of Recreation. The co-ed Frisbee event, the largest kind in the world, will take place on Fri., July 27 through Sun., July 29 on the Wildwood Beach from Oak Avenue to Rio Grande Avenue.
“We cannot express our sincere thanks to the directors of the Ultimate Tournament for the donation to our Recreation Department which will help fund some recreation programs for our children,” said Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr. “The Ultimate Beach Tournament brings thousands of people to Wildwood resulting in great exposure to our beaches, boardwalk, restaurants, motels and numerous other tourist attractions.”
More than 400 teams from all over the U.S. will take part in the Ultimate Players Association sanctioned tournament, bringing more than 5,000 participants and their families and friends to the island. In 2006, the Wildwood event became the largest beach event ultimate tournament in the world, surpassing the one held in Spain.
Tournament Co-Director Len Dagit stated, “We love Wildwood and appreciate the support the City gives us. The tournament gets larger and better every year and we expect our 20th Anniversary to be the largest event to date. We have a tradition of donating to local charities and especially in these difficult economic times, we are excited to help support recreational activities for local youth.”
