NORTH CAPE MAY — Due to the amount of foot traffic expected along Beach Drive for the Fireworks Festival, Lower Township police will close down Beach Drive from Townbank Road to Sandman Boulevard from 5 p.m. till the conclusion of the event which is expected to end around 10 p.m. Douglass Park will also be closed the entire day of July 2.
Vendors and amusement rides will stay open till approximately 10 p,m, to allow traffic to filter out of the area. Shore Drive and Beach Drive will be closed to all vehicular and bicycle traffic during this time.
There will be “No Parking” along Beach Drive from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 2 to allow for the setup and clean up of vendors along Beach Drive.
The last blocks of Franklin Avenues Whittier Ave and Washington Boulevard from Atlantic Avenue to the Beach will also be posted “No Parking” from Wednesday July 1 at noon until Friday July 3 to allow for the set-up and breakdown of several amusement rides that will be set up on these two blocks.
Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and towed. There will be ample parking throughout North Cape May.
Motorists are warned not to block driveways, fire hydrants or intersections.
Handicapped parking will be available on Holmes and Townbank roads between Beach Drive and Atlantic Avenue. In the event there are lost children, parents or guardians are directed to report to the Lower Township Police Command Center which will be located at Townbank and Beach Drive.
