Avalon Historical Society Announces Photography Contest Winners

AVALON – The Avalon Historical Society held their 14th Annual Photography Contest the month of May at the History Center, 215-39th Street.  The photographs were judged June 8 by Al Campbell, editor of the Herald Newspaper, Len Morgan and photographer Cal Sampson.
Rose Marie Chew, chair of the event announces the winners of the different categories:  Avalon – first Joy, Sunrise at the Beach by Eileen Skultety, second Avalon Beach Path by Janice Kubiak, third After Sunset by Penny Blom; Nature – first Bananaquit Dominica by George Rose, second Feeding Time by Penny Blom, third Proud Momma by Karen Goldberg; Scenic – first See the Lights by Karen Goldberg, second East Point Light by Karen Goldberg, third Sunrise at the Avalon Pier by Eileen Skultety; Portrait & Personality – first Girlfriends by Eileen Skultety, second Madonna and Child by Leslie Branda, third In the Beginning by Janet Halasek; Children’s Category – first Flip Flops on Deck by Addy Worton, second Osprey Nest at Sunset by Brandon Leahy, third Orange Salamander by Willie Tozour.  The Best in Show went to George Rose with his “Bananaquit Dominica” entry.
Ms. Chew thanks all the participants who submitted their entries. The photography pictures will remain exhibited through June.  The History Center is open daily except Mondays, you may contact them at 609-967-0090.
