Annual Octoberfest in Sea Isle City

By On Deck Staff

The Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Octoberfest in the Excursion Park, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Ave., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 24
There will be basketball contests, hay rides on the beach, face painting, pumpkin painting, and various other games and activities throughout the day.
There will also be Magic Shows by Bill Gallagher at Coffee.Comedy beginning at noon, plus live music provided by the Weekstown German Band from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Along with the band there will be stands selling fall produce and goods, as well as German food, all working together to get everyone in the German festival spirit.
A Treasure Map competition with participating businesses in town will also take place during the day. Competitors will receive a treasure map of the city with different businesses they must stop at to get a stamp.
Those who collect the most stamps will receive a prize. Local businesses in town will also participate in a Scarecrow contest. All are invited to view the scarecrows during the festival, as they will be posted outside participating stores.
The Wetlands Institute will be attending, bringing different crustaceans to show and discuss, and the Sea Isle City Ambulance Corps, Fire and Police Departments will also have their vehicle demonstrations.
The highlight for many will be the annual pie-baking contest. This year there are two categories in the contest, both using apples as the main ingredient.
Baked goods from professional kitchens will not be accepted and prizes will be awarded to the top two winners in each category.
Although there is no entry fee, only pre-registered goods will be accepted.
