OCEAN CITY — During Nov., American Legion Post 524 will host a men’s clothing drive to support the troops in Afghanistan.
The American Legion approached Congressman Frank LoBiondo and Mayor Sal Perillo’s office after they were spurred into action by a letter from a fellow serviceman and medic who is currently deployed in Southern Afghanistan, describing the desperate need for men’s clothing for the wounded soldiers.
The City offered to house a trailer on a city parking lot at 5th and West Ave. The drop off area will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A second drop off location is being provided at Cape Atlantic Storage, 3 Roosevelt Blvd. in Marmora from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
The items that are requested as donations are men’s t-shirts, shorts, and sweatshirts, sizes medium, large and extra large that are new or in good condition and should be dropped off in bags (please no boxes).
The Legion is also collecting small, clean toys for orphaned Afghan children, ages 2-11.
