Alexander Bland for Woodbine Council

By Sponsored

My name is Alexander Bland. I am 28 years old and running for Borough Council in my town of Woodbine. I attended Woodbine Elementary from kindergarten through 8th grade and went to Millville Senior High School. For eight years and counting, I’ve worked as a human service assistant at the Woodbine Developmental Center, where I assist those with special needs. I received my PN license through Prism Career Institute in 2018. I work as a pediatric nurse at Star Pediatric Care and a geriatric nurse at Caring Inc. I am also a mentor for children in Bridgeton for Pathstone’s youth program, helping them reach their goals in life and keeping them on a positive path and out of the streets. I am a Scout master in Woodbine Troop and Pact 77, and I also volunteer at the food bank for SOAR Church in Woodbine. Since July, I have worked with the Woodbine Rec to provide a basketball clinic, kickball game and a movie night for the community. On Aug. 24, I held an event called on “A Night to ReMarvel,” where I showed the children true heroes of the community like police officers and firefighters. On Sept. 29, I held another event called “Welcome Fortnite to Woodbine” at the Franklin Street Park, where I got the kids off of the videos games and outside for some physical activities with an obstacle course and other activities that people of all ages enjoyed. I am also starting a program titled “Grandpals” that will keep the elderly people connected to the community by way of pairing them with a younger individual to write them by mail, and even getting help with yard work. As part of Borough Council, I plan to better inform the people on new renovations, policies and regulations, assist the town with keeping taxes low, work with Woodbine’s Elementary School Board to help our children achieve their goals and get them ready for each step of progression in life, and entice new families and business by keeping the town’s parks and recreation sites clean and safe. I am here to make a difference, be a positive influence and inspire in my community. Woodbine has enormous, untapped potential and with my ambition, determination and forward thinking, I believe I am the best person to tap the potential and make my town better than it ever has been. On Tuesday, Nov. 6, you have a chance to make a difference when you hit column 3 for Alexander Bland.
