At this year’s 4-H Fair you can look forward to the first ever Cape May County 4-H Fair Grand Opening Parade, beginning at 4 p.m. on July 16.
The parade will wind around the fairgrounds, beginning at the horse show arena and passing by the main stage.
The U.S. Coast Guard Training Center’s Ceremonial Color Guard will lead the procession, followed by 2009 Outstanding 4-Hers Ella Barry and Russell Trafford, marching 4-H clubs, the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center’s Ceremonial Band, Lighthouse Pete the DRBA mascot, the Cape May County String Band, a 4-H livestock float loaded with cute kids and critters, the Cape May County Herald’s mascot Truman the Dragon, 4-H riders on horseback led by 2009 Equestrians of the Year Kelsey Champion and Katie Washart, and more!
One of the highlights of the parade will be the brilliantly costumed Moonlight Riders Mounted 4-H Drill Team that will be performing their newest, thrilling riding routine later that evening.
Cat Country Radio’s 107 Days of Summer Tour will also be on hand.
Following the parade and opening ceremonies on the main stage, the festivities begin, with barbeque dinners, amusement rides, a bustling midway of vendors, entertainers, food booths, games, and community organization booths until 9 p.m. each night of the fair.
Be sure to check the pages of the Herald for this week’s special section on the 4-H Fair.
