COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program congratulates the winners of its 2017 4-H Equestrian of the Year Contest. Erin Schalick was selected by a panel of judges as the 4-H Senior Equestrian of the Year. Schalick is an active member of 4-H, including the Teen Ambassadors and Whinny Pigs 4-H clubs. The 2017 Junior 4-H Equestrian of the Year title was awarded to Rob Elwell. Elwell is a member of the Shore Blazers 4-H Club.
2016 Senior 4-H Equestrian of the Year, Victoria McCann and the 2016 Junior 4-H Equestrian of the Year, Kathleen DeGenova presented their awards.
The 4-H youth are judged in three categories: resume, personal interview and stage presentation. This year’s title bearers will represent 4-H at events around the county and state and at the 2017 Cape May County 4-H Fair July 20, 21, and 22 at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Cape May Court House. Also, Erin Schalick will compete in the New Jersey 4-H Equestrian of the Year Contest in August.
