COLEMAN, EDWARD JOSEPH

COLEMAN,
EDWARD JOSEPH
Edward Joseph Coleman, 71 of Wildwood, NJ, passed away on March 2, 2025. He was surrounded by his loyal dogs, three dedicated daughters, and his loving wife.
Ed was a Wildwood local his entire life with a few brief stints in both NYC and Fort Lauderdale, but he always returned home to “his” town. The sands of Wildwood were not only embedded in his shoes, but in his soul.
Born on April 3, 1953, to Melvin and Margaret (Patterson) Coleman. Ed spent his childhood on Rosemary Road in Wildwood Crest. Playing among the many other neighborhood kids there, he made lifelong friends. Ed graduated from Wildwood High School in the class of 1971, where he was a lettered football player and avid surfer. Ed is quoted in his senior yearbook as hating hard work but always worked hardest and happiest when working alongside friends. Working side-by-side with Mark Vito to get the Club Casba up and running to working with Dave Bowman at Bowman's Heating and Air. To fishing with his friend Bill Shoffler and eventually helping around his marina, working with Steve Roach as part of Ed Roach and Son's, and he worked for his friend Carl Groon for some time at Green's Liquors.
In the recent past, Ed became popular on Facebook with his year round pre-dawn walks with his dogs, and amazing sunrise photos. People looked forward to waking up to Ed's posts, approximately 300 days a year.
Ed is predeceased by his parents, his oldest brother George in Vietnam in 1968, his father Melvin in 1985, his brother John in 1990, his mother Margaret in 1992, and his sister Phyllis in 2019, as well as countless beloved friends. He is survived by his wife Amy (Russo), his daughters Brenna, Jill, and Emily, and his son Eric, his grandchildren Michael, Makenzie, and Eric Jr., his brother Bob (Luana) and sister Debbie as well as countless nieces and nephews.
A service for Ed will be held at Crest Community Church @ 10 a.m. Friday March 7, 2025, 5901 Pacific Avenue Wildwood Crest, N.J. 08260. There will be a Sunrise vigil in his honor directly in front of the Convention Hall that same morning.
