Celebrate the Holidays with the Muppets

WHAT: East Lynne Theater Company will host three viewings of The Muppet Christmas Carol at the Clemans Theater for the Arts.

WHEN: Showtimes are at 12 p.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13

WHERE: Clemans Theater for the Arts, 717 Franklin St, Cape May

The 1992 holiday movie musical, directed by Brian Henson, is based on the original novella “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. In this version, The Muppets play most of the major players, such as Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit and Miss Piggy as his wife. The primary exception is Academy Award-winning actor Michael Caine, who stars as the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge. The movie features original songs by Paul Williams, like “One More Sleep Til Christmas,” “It Feels Like Christmas” and “When Love is Gone.” The popular holiday classic is often considered to be one of the best Christmas films of all time.

“This is our first Christmas at the Clemans Theater for the Arts and we wanted to do something very special that audiences of all ages would love to see,” said Mark David Boberick, executive director of East Lynne Theater Company. “I have been a big fan of ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ since I was a kid and I still love it today. It’s a holiday classic that provides a unique twist by having Muppets playing major roles, yet it still remains true to the original story that Dickens wrote over 180 years ago.”

Just prior to the last showing, East Lynne will announce the three winners of its 50/50 raffle at 5:45 p.m., when the winners will receive either 1st Place for up to $6,000, 2nd Place for up to $1,200 and 3rd Place for up to $300.

Tickets are $10.  For tickets and more information, go to EastLynneTheater.org.
