When Cape May Technical School District hosts an open house on Tuesday, Nov. 14, visitors also will get a sneak preview of new facilities and programs.
The expanding campus reflects an increasing demand for instruction in Career and Technical Education (CTE).
Community members can meet teachers and administrators while visiting Cape Tech’s campus from 6-8 p.m. Student ambassadors will guide tours of the state-of-the art facilities. Current students also will showcase their projects and skills during open house demonstrations.
“We are so excited for incoming students to experience everything we have to offer, with more opportunities to come,” said Cape May Technical School District Superintendent Jamie Moscony. “After years of working toward this expansion, we get to show a new generation of prospective Cape Tech students what we are all about. At Cape Tech, when we teach our students to think and innovate, we have the same lessons in mind for ourselves.”
Upgrades will impact the College and Career Readiness Center, media center, makerspace, and conference center. The district also is planning a new esports arena, new culinary lab with an eat-in restaurant, a renovated hotel space, and a new dock and updated boathouse for waterfront lessons.
New programs also will broaden opportunities. Cape Tech started offering Environmental Science and Sustainability this school year, and incoming freshman in 2024-25 can choose from six additional programs after their initial exploratory year. The new programs are Cybersecurity, Dental Assisting, Electrical Trades, Marine Maintenance, Medical Assisting and Veterinary Assisting.
Open-house visitors also can learn more about Cape Tech’s expanding roster of sports and other extracurricular activities. Students can compete in the Cape Atlantic League in baseball, basketball, cross county, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and volleyball. Intramural sports are also available. Students can explore interests and find leadership opportunities in clubs including American Sign Language Club, SkillsUSA, Student Council, Mock Trial, Peer Club, Future Farmers of America, Key Club, National Honor Society and more.
Cape Tech designs its programs to give students a head start on college and career success. The district educates students with diverse career aspirations ranging from physician to engineer, head chef to carpenter and everything in between.
