CAPE MAY – City Manager Paul Dietrich is forming a department-level group to meet monthly on quality-of-life issues in the historic town.
The group would focus on issues raised by the public concerning things that would enhance the experience of living in Cape May City.
Mayor Zack Mullock identified tents on the beach, hotel setups on the beach and outdoor dining as examples of quality-of-life issues.
Such issues could come up in other contexts, where the focus might be on fees, safety or Public Works burdens, but by placing an issue in the context of quality of life the city brings to it a potentially different perspective: How the city’s response to the issue impacts the experience of the city for its residents and visitors.
Dietrich said he would periodically report on the group’s work to the City Council. His remarks came at the council’s Aug. 20 meeting.
