BURLEIGH – A resident was arrested March 13 and charged with distribution of methamphetamine and prescription drugs, authorities said.
Augustine “Trina” Stesney, 59, was arrested after a multijurisdictional investigation, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super said in a release.
Police executed search warrants on Stesney and Stesney’s residence; as a result of the searches, methamphetamine in an amount greater than one-half ounce, distribution amounts of prescription legend drugs and various types of paraphernalia related to the distribution of controlled dangerous substances were seized.
Prescription legend drugs are those required by law to be dispensed to the public only through the prescription of a licensed physician or other licensed provider.
Stesney was charged with one second-degree count of distribution of a CDS; one third-degree count of possession of a CDS and one third-degree count of possession of a prescription legend drug.
Individuals convicted of second-degree crimes are subject to a prison term of five to 10 years.
Stesney was released on a summons pending court proceedings.
According to the press release, the Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force, the county regional SWAT team, the Middle Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration worked on the investigation.
