WILDWOOD – Uniformed police officers ran down and caught a burglary suspect and found he was in possession of drugs and weapons, as well as having multiple warrants out for his arrest.
On Sunday, April 14, at about 9:45 p.m., officers were investigating a burglary at a residence located in the 200 block of East Cresse Avenue. During the investigation, the officers found the suspect, Jonathan Duerr, 30, of Wildwood, in the area of Oak Avenue and the boardwalk.
According to a Police Department press release, Duerr had two active warrants for his arrest — one from Middle Township and one from Cape May Municipal Court. Details on the warrants were not immediately available. He fled on foot upon being advised that he was under arrest, the release said, but was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
Duerr was found to be in possession of a folding knife, a plastic pill bottle containing suspected heroin, a suboxone film strip and a Glock model MBS 6mm BB gun wrapped with black electrical tape. He was charged with two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth-degree certain persons not to carry a weapon and fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight. He is lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
