Boy Scout Troop 1065

By Joshua Heck, Dennis Township

To the Editor:

I am part of Boy Scout Troop 1065 of Cape May Court House. I am writing to you because it is required to earn the Communications Merit Badge and I would like to explain how Boy Scouts can help the community.

Boy Scouts has been helping the community since they were founded in 1910. The program teaches valuable life skills which transcend into adulthood. The Scouting program produces responsible young adults, who become productive members of society. Troop 1065 has 725 volunteer hours this past year, and we have done various Life/Eagle Scout projects. We have cleaned the graves of veterans, done projects at the Cape May County Museum as well as food drives and roadside cleanups.

Scout Troop 1065 is one of the biggest troops in Cape May County with around 30 active members. The Scouting program is a great program for youth of any background, and we can always make room for more scouts.
