Avalon Lions Remember Two Exceptional People with a Donation to Family Promise

From the Avalon Lions

AVALON – When Avalon Lions Club member, Bob Baxter passed away in 2017 he left behind a legacy of caring and sharing. Baxter and his widow, Madeline provided the energy and drive to expand the Lions mission, from helping the blind, to include Cape May County charities like Family Promise.

This year, Family Promise is mourning the recent loss of their Executive Director, Laurie Johnson who worked closely with Bob to find homes for the homeless and families for orphans.

To help share that mission the Lions presented a check for six thousand dollars at the Bob Baxter Memorial Golf Tournament held at the Shore Club in Cape May Court House. The charity is one of more than a dozen in the county supported by the Avalon Lions to honor their promise, “We Serve.”
