Are Dental Implants Right for You?

An estimated 178 million people in the United States are missing at least one tooth. Dental Implants are becoming the replacement of choice for missing teeth over traditional dentures. Missing teeth are detrimental to a person’s long-term health and replacing them can dramatically improve a person’s confidence, smile and chewing ability.

They are exceptionally durable and can last a lifetime when properly cared for with regular brushing, flossing and routine check-ups. Dental implants have revolutionized dentistry by offering a much more stable and natural-looking replacement for missing teeth. They can be utilized for single or multiple missing teeth in a variety of methods.

A dental implant is a titanium post that simulates the root of a natural tooth and can support a crown, bridge or overdenture (a denture secured to implants). You can replace one missing tooth with one implant, several missing teeth with multiple implants or even all your teeth with dentures attached to multiple implants. Traditionally, implant placement is a multiple step process that takes several appointments and months to complete.

Depending on the health of your jawbone and your specific needs, in addition to the traditional multi-step dental implant procedure you may be a candidate for some alternative treatment options. When you meet with your implant dentist, you’ll undergo a complete dental exam; including X-rays and advanced digital imaging to help further evaluate your available bone prior to formulating a treatment plan based on your individual situation.
