ABROLAT, ALFRED OTTO

ABROLAT, ALFRED OTTO
Alfred Otto Abrolat, 96, of Cape May, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He had bravely battled congestive heart failure in his final years.
Born on May 29, 1928, in Warsaw, Poland, to Otto and Jadwiga Abrolat, Alfred experienced a childhood shaped by the turmoil of World War II. During the war, his family was separated, and his education was frequently interrupted. Despite these early hardships, Alfred persevered eventually completing trade school and securing a job in London, where his life would take a joyful turn.
It was in London that Alfred met the love of his life, Emma. Just six months after meeting, they were married. Soon after, they immigrated to the United States, built a warm and loving home, and raised three children.
Alfred worked as
an engineer for H&H Manufacturing Company, where he specialized in the production of turbine generators for Westinghouse. He designed the custom plates used to machine and shape the turbine parts, a testament to his precision and ingenuity. He was admired for his sharp mind and strong work ethic. After retiring, Alfred and Emma settled in Cape May, where they spent peaceful days near the shore. He cherished visits from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren moments that brought him immeasurable joy.
A passionate fisherman, Alfred spent his days by the water with a rod in hand and his grandsons by his side, teaching them the art of surf fishing. A natural engineer at heart, he was always tinkering building wooden projects, repairing anything that needed fixing, and finding joy in every challenge. Known for his kind heart, quick wit, and love of laughter, Alfred was a devoted family man whose warmth and humor lit up every room.
Alfred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma; his parents, Otto and Jadwiga Abrolat; and his sister, Lydia Ward. He is survived by his sister, Alice Cristi; his children, Al Abrolat, Marge Koch, and Sharyn Madden; his grandchildren Alexia, Chris, Kevin, AJ, Nicole, Kerrin, Jacquelyn, and Brianna; his five great-grandchildren DJ, Otto, Madison, Abigail, and Hannah; and his nephews, Gary and Carmen, and nieces, Lydia and Alice.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Services will follow at 2:00 PM, with burial immediately after at Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery. Condolences at
