A Welcome Connection to Home, Over the Years

To the Editor:

I just finished the Nov. 5 Herald. On the first page, you noted your duty to inform. I am a just-retired combat Army colonel who left North Wildwood for almost 30 years in the military. No matter where I was in the world, I always had my weekly Herald, as you all have been my lifeline to my community and to my eventual return.

I can imagine trying to appease everyone. But the simple, transparent approach my Herald takes keeps me connected to the community and feeling engaged. I chuckle at the Spout Offs at times and reflect on other comments.

You all continue to show the world how to get it right. It’s not bad making people uncomfortable and being transparent; that’s how we grow.

Just wanted to say thank you for honoring our vets and keeping me connected to home for all these years, sometimes in scary places.

Now retired, I have a little place in North Wildwood, and having my Herald helps make my house my home.

Thank you for being with me through my tours and always keeping me and my family connected. Keep up the world-class reporting and news, and thank you for being on the journey with me, now full circle.

Maybe those who fear transparency can grow as you remain consistent in excellence in our community, and an example for many others.

Thank you, Herald, for always being an important part of my life.

U.S. Army (Ret.) Lieutenant Colonel
