A Thank-You for Great Medical Care

By Linda Tozer, Court House

To the Editor:

I want to thank the doctors and nurses and aides of Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional for my recent stay in the ICU, then regular room, then later rehab at Complete Care Cape May Court House.

On Jan. 10 I went into the ER with what we thought was a minor kidney stone. We found out quickly it was blocking a passage and became infected. It turns out I had sepsis, with my kidneys failing. In the ER there was Michaela and Kevin looking after me. Then Dr. Hirsh saved my life by deciding to do emergency surgery on me that night instead of waiting until the next morning.

In the ICU, I was seen by Dr. Pandya, Dr. Patillo and Dr. Medeiros almost daily. All were professional and answered my many questions. The nurses and aides in there were so great; they listened to my mumblings and delusional rants (they said hallucinations can be common in the ICU), especially Merissa, Matt, Jeff, Cheyenne, Kim, Colleen, Yulia and Estefania.

After eight days, they moved me to a regular room. In there I was taken good care of by Kristen, Lily, Amy, Carly, Abby, Faith and Ashley. Dominique was great with physical therapy. In Complete Care Rehab I have to mention nurse Maddie, who did so much for her patients. I was there for 14 days and don’t remember the names of many other nurses and aides who did so much for me.

I know I missed some names, and most won’t see this letter. This hospital has gotten a bad rap over the years, but this time they saved my life!
