PETERSBURG – The Upper Township Committee on May 27 honored three of its EMS workers, who received the Shore Medical Center Clinical Excellence Award for their efforts in responding to an unconscious person at a Seaville residence.
On Dec. 29, 2024, an Upper Township EMS crew consisting of EMT Anthony Lamanna, EMT Ryan Schaefer and Upper Township Rescue Squad volunteer Abrianna Hoover responded to a critical respiratory emergency at a residence in Seaville.
Upon arrival, the crew was informed that the patient had lost consciousness, and a bystander was attempting CPR. The EMS team quickly confirmed that the patient had no pulse and immediately began lifesaving measures. Additional units arrived to assist, and the original EMS crew transported the patient to Shore Medical Center.
As a part of National EMS Week, Shore Medical Center recognized this response during its EMS Awards Ceremony, at which Lamanna, Schaefer and Hoover were presented with the Clinical Excellence Award, an honor based on feedback from the hospital’s nursing staff regarding the high level of lifesaving care the patient received.
The Upper Township Committee, by proclamation, offered its congratulations to the three.
