The man who’s blowing up boats — and the people on them — under the banner of “stopping drug smuggling” just pardoned former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández. Yes, the same Hernández who was convicted and sentenced to 45 years in federal prison for orchestrating the movement of hundreds of tons of cocaine into the United States. So explain this to me: how does the self-proclaimed defender of America’s borders go out of his way to free one of the most prolific facilitators of drug trafficking in modern history? What logic am I supposed to pretend is at work here?
