Trump threw his support behind a the effort to release all the Epstein files only after it became clear that he could not stop its momentum and that he risked suffering an embarrassing loss on the House floor. The realty of this loss was conveyed to Trump by allies and advisers in recent days, and drove the president’s turn-about. I’m glad the files will be released, but lets not fool ourselves that he supports this. After all, he said the files were just a hoax a week ago.
