The only thing elimination of the penny will ultimately cause is prices to be rounded up for some transactions and down for others when paying in cash. This won’t affect credit card purchases for a while but I believe ultimately it will. How much will that affect average people in a year? Maybe $10-$20? Depending on the number of transactions per year. Making Pennie’s that cost more than a penny makes no sense at all if we really think about it. If you have a stockpile hold on to them for your kids, some may be worth money in the far future but they must be 95% copper pre 1982.
