Why do Mayor and Council continue to struggle? Criticizing work process and other management functions is not the help they need. They need to enhance the process for proactively and thoroughly evaluating matters and making fact-based decisions, including knowledge sharing and peer benchmarking. They need to actively engage property owner volunteers willing to contribute time and talent to help (Mayor Carney’s words soliciting volunteers at the Fall SHPOA Meeting were just that, words). They need to improve communication (they should watch meeting replays, it’s cringeworthy).
