GALLAGHER, JOSEPH M.
Joseph M. Gallagher, known affectionately to all as “Just” Joe, embarked on his final adventure, leaving us on October 29th, 2025. Born on January 28th 1952, Joe's journey through life was one characterized by an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and community. Joe passed away at Fox Chase Cancer Center, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind his beloved “bride”, Eileen Gallagher, who was his partner in both love and laughter. His parents, Mary Catherine and Thomas Gallagher, preceded him in death along with his brothers Anthony and Thomas Gallagher.
In addition to his loving wife, Joe is also survived by his sister, Mary Anne (Steve) Gdowik aka Tizzy and Shake. His daughters, Catherine (Mark) Clowers, Corinne (James) Clarke, and Maura (Marilyn C.) Gallagher. Also, by his stepchildren Christopher (Noreen) Elia, Dennis Elia, Jaymie Ryan, Jodi (Garry W.) Elia, and Katie Elia. Joe's heart was full of love for his six grandchildren.
Joe attended Loyola University, which led him to his career as a dedicated tax assessor for the Wildwoods, he served on the planning board, and was also a licensed NJ realtor.
Joe lived his faith through his actions, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a meal, as anyone who has stopped by “Gallagher's on Washington” would know. As a former star basketball player and coach, sports were always at the forefront of his life. Especially when cheering on his beloved Philadelphia teams.
As we bid farewell to Joe, let us remember to live as he did-with open hearts, generous spirits, and always ready with a joke to lighten the load.
Services will be held Monday November 10th, 2025 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 702 Seashore Rd., Cape May, NJ. Visitation will be from 10:30-12:00 pm, service to follow. In Joe's honor, memorial contributions can be made to www.loveoflinda.org.
