I appreciate the Herald’s op-ed on the BPU ignoring its mandate to ensure the public has affordable and reliable utilities and instead acting as a rubber stamp for a governor’s energy policy. I have tried to get our legislators to write bills to make the BPU members elected rather than appointed so they will be answerable to we the people and not a governor. Our state senator’s staff gave me the runaround on this probably because each party wants appointments for cronies not officials elected by us. I urge the Herald and others to pressure for legislation making BPU elected positions.
