To the Editor:
How much longer must we wait for justice for Mark Himebaugh? This little boy vanished from Cape May County in 1991, and for 34 years his family and community have lived without answers. No arrests. No resolution. No closure.
And most heartbreaking of all – Mark has never been found.
Over the years, people like myself have come forward with tips, concerns and even information connected to composite sketches. Still, critical leads were ignored. People who should have been questioned were never interviewed. These failures cannot be brushed aside as “old history.” This is a child’s life we are talking about.
Meanwhile, millions of families visit Cape May each summer, bringing their children to the same area where a predator once walked free – and maybe still does. The thought is chilling.
The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office owes Mark, his family and this community more than silence. They owe us action. They owe us answers. They owe us justice.
It’s time for them to do their job.
