Second Burleigh Storage Fire in Six Months Damages Building

BURLEIGH – At least a dozen agencies responded to a fire at the Burleigh Storage facility, where fire destroyed a 50-unit building just over six months ago.

According to the Middle Township Police Department, police were dispatched to Burleigh Storage, on Shunpike Road, for a reported structure fire on Monday, Sept. 8, at 10:08 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found heavy smoke coming from multiple units within the F building of the facility. Fire department personnel arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and began fire suppression efforts.

The Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.

The following agencies responded to the scene and/or are assisting with the investigation: Cape May Court House Fire Department, Green Creek Fire Department, Rio Grande Fire Department, Stone Harbor Fire Department, Ocean View Fire Department, Goshen Fire Department, Villas Fire Department, Dennis Township Fire Department, AtlantiCare EMS. Middle Township EMS, Cape May County CBRNE Unit and the Cape May County Fire Police.
