To the Editor:
Congressman Van Drew claims victories, but the truth is he failed to lower our energy costs.
While our county invested in charging stations and energy demand rose, Van Drew spent years fighting offshore wind projects without offering a single alternative. Those projects could have cut electricity bills, created jobs and boosted our economy. Instead, his relentless attacks delayed and ultimately killed them.
Now New Jersey families face some of the highest electricity prices in the nation. Van Drew can blame “supply and demand,” but his opposition to renewable energy is a major reason supply is tight and costs are climbing. Ironically, he even has a windmill on his own property from years ago, back when the technology was far less efficient.
Cape May County deserves a congressman who works to bring down bills and plans for the future – not one who blocks solutions and leaves us paying more.
