WEST WILDWOOD — The Borough of West Wildwood held a ceremony that is rare in the municipality that is listed as 0.36 square miles — a ribbon-cutting on a new business.

Tracey Boyle-DuFault, executive director of the of the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce, said it is the first time she has attended a ribbon-cutting in the borough, which, according to Mayor Matt Ksiazek, now has eight commercial businesses.

A ribbon cutting was held at noon on Friday, Aug. 8, at 221 P Ave., West Wildwood — the P Avenue entrance of the Bridgeport Family Marina — and the location of the former Crow’s Nest. Borough and county officials attended the ceremony, along with officers from the Greater Wildwood Chamber.

Tom’s Café is named for the late Tom Liciardello, who loved West Wildwood … and ice cream … based on a Facebook photo of him eating two cones at once. Liciardello was a career police officer, serving over 30 years with the Philadelphia Police Department. His wife, Maureen, cut the ribbon surrounded by family members who are working at the café.

Maureen said Tom’s Café is serving breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and ice cream from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tom’s Café Facebook page says, “Come enjoy breakfast by the water at Tom’s Cafe on the Bay in West Wildwood. Relax with fresh coffee, classic morning favorites, and a laid-back coastal vibe. A perfect spot to eat, unwind, and savor the shore.”
